NJ Department of Education Names NJCU Dean Allan De Fina to Leadership Role in National ‘Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers’

Dr. Allan De Fina, dean of New Jersey City University’s Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education, has been named by the New Jersey Department of Education to represent New Jersey’s higher education community as a member of the Educator Leader Cadre of the national Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).

New Jersey will join Washington, D.C. and 23 other states in the national initiative that will train a select group of educators to implement Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and transition to PARCC assessments in the 2014-2015 academic year.

Common Core State Standards are intended to provide a consistent understanding of what students are expected to learn, so that teachers and parents are aware of what they need to do to help students achieve. The standards are designed to reflect knowledge and skills that young students need for success in college and careers in the global economy.

The Educator Leader Cadre will hold its initial meeting, July 23-26, in Chicago.
