New Jersey City University has launched “Build Your Dream™,” a competition that will award prizes of $1,000, $500, and $250 respectively to the top three original business concepts developed by NJCU students. The prizes will be sponsored by the NJCU Foundation, Inc.

Launched in December at a campus program that featured a workshop on financial and business plans, the four-month long Build Your Dream™ competition will support student contestants through regular feedback and networking, team-building, and idea-pitching workshops and programs.

Build Your Dream™ will be judged by NJCU alumni entrepreneurs and representatives from NJCU’s Business Administration Department, Business Development Incubator (BDI), and Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and private equity firms. Finalists in the competition will be judged on Monday, April 8.

The competition is part of an ongoing series of campus programs that focus on entrepreneurship and various aspects of starting a business. The programs typically feature NJCU business faculty, representatives from the SBDC at NJCU, NJCU alumni entrepreneurs, and other experts in various fields, as well as networking opportunities.

Offered in response to students’ interest in meeting with alumni entrepreneurs and others in the business world to gain firsthand knowledge about starting a business, the campus programs are coordinated by NJCU’s Office of Alumni Relations, BDI, Business Administration Department, Media Arts Department, Office of Academic Career Planning and Placement, and student Business Society.
