The Center for Community and Volunteerism (CCSV) aims to create and foster an ethic of lifelong service within the NJCU community by encouraging students to participate in campus, city, county, state, national, and international outreach efforts.

Participants through the CCSV engage in meaningful service projects and have the opportunity to make a positive impact in communities that have limited means to care for themselves within Jersey City, the Greater Hudson County area and other locations, throughout the United States and the world. The program is available to NJCU undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff. The goals for all participants engaged in the NJCU Service Program are to develop:

    • An increased sense of civic responsibility and academic self-confidence
    • Achieve higher grades
    • Enhance leadership ability
    • Develop critical thinking skills
    • To deepen their understanding of national and community problems

By combining formal study with service to the community, students find that their learning takes on greater depth and meaning.
