  • A History of Education Excellence

The Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education at New Jersey City University has a proud history of preparing distinguished educators for the state of New Jersey, the country, and many foreign countries. It continues that tradition while expanding its scope as a leading public university, with a particular focus on the needs of students in urban settings. All programs in the Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education emphasize developing and applying critical thinking and analytical skills for problem solving and effective teaching in urban and other school settings, increasing awareness of New Jersey's educational system and its role in the larger society, and broadening the understanding and appreciation of teaching as a profession.

The Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education provides leadership in meeting the educational needs of its students. It is committed to building a learning community and to providing high-quality instruction to those seeking careers within varied educational settings. Because of our unique location in one of New Jersey’s largest cities, we specialize in addressing the needs of students in the contemporary urban, multicultural, and multilingual classroom. Our expertise also is valuable in preparing future and present teachers for increasingly diverse classrooms across the state, the nation, and the world. The Deborah Cannon Partridge Wolfe College of Education is dedicated to graduating knowledgeable, capable, and articulate educators who are reflective about their own teaching. We are committed to the belief that education is transformative and empowering and that social justice can be best accomplished through an educated citizenry.
