  • http://www.njsbdc.com New Jersey City University is an active community participant, supporting and working with residents and businesses to create a better Jersey City. Ongoing outreach and community relations help to build relationships that benefit corporations, public/private partnerships, and other collaborations that build the city’s economy and serve its citizens.

NJCU’s presence in Jersey City is multilayered and deep.  Community engagement at NJCU takes many forms, involving students, faculty, and staff in a variety of ways:

    • The Business Development Incubator (BDI) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provide access to professional-grade facilities and high-level expertise.

    • College preparation resources for local students offer academic enrichment, tutoring, test preparation, counseling, career exploration, and more.

    • NJCU students strengthen their leadership and critical thinking skills through meaningful community service. In return, students earn the rewards of making a positive impact on the lives of others.

    • NJCU serves as a cultural center, with community resources ranging from art galleries and performing arts to library services and academic centers.

NJCU has also sponsored the development of the Jersey City: Past and Present website to compile local history information.  The site serves as a needed resource in support of New Jersey's Social Studies Curriculum. A more scholarly and reliable alternative to Wikipedia, both public and private school students and teachers can integrate Jersey City history into their classroom learning activities via this freely available online resource.
