Blending Styles: A New Era of Musical Creativity LectureLectures 04:00 PM - 06:00 PM

    Location:Hepburn Hall, Room 202

Dr. Amparo Fabra, an NJCU assistant professor of music, will discuss how hybridization seems to be a relevant trend across various musical styles, ranging from classical to pop, since the early 1960s. Today, the blending of different traits remains the most prominent characteristic of many groups and composers. This tendency of mixing rhythms, melodies, or harmonies from different backgrounds is the result of a plural, multicultural society that stimulates the artist’s creativity and becomes a source of inspiration for creating a new product that combines a multiplicity of influences.
