First-Year Experience Program

Print
  • The First-Year Experience Program offers first-year students the opportunity to participate in academic learning communities with other students who share a common theme, inquiry, or set of concerns. It is part of what sets the freshman year experience apart at NJCU.

The instructors work closely to develop a unified curriculum and support system for students, creating assignments that speak to and build on one another and that align assessment standards and tools.

    Course work emphasizes:

    • Reading and writing as integrated skills
    • Critical thinking and problem solving
    • Collaborative work skills and strategies
    • Basic library research skills
    • Oral communications skills
