Our design and illustration programs are supported by three Mac computer labs. Each lab includes fifteen to twenty new computers, several black and white printers and scanning stations. NJCU maintains one of the three computer labs for your use. This lab is available to you seven days a week with evening hours on most days. For traditional Illustrators and designers we have two rooms with drafting tables. We have facilities for classical animation along with video cameras and players. Before you begin you can do research from our large collection of books and slides.
Once you have completed your project, you'll probably want to save it. You can burn it on a CD, DVD or let it sit on the server until you feel inspired. However, many students prefer to use our super fast T1 line and send their files home, via e-mail.
While you are in our labs, you will find that each computer offers the use of state of the art software. Some of the programs we support include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Painter, Dreamweaver, Flash, QuarkXpress, Director, and Finalcut Pro. Of course, there are those of you who prefer a more conceptual approach. For the word-wily we have MS Word. If you want to get fancy, we offer you the use of the Adobe Type Library of fonts thousands, as well as, many other fonts from well known type foundries.
Our service bureau is unmatched and it is open during regularly scheduled class hours. Through the Service Bureau you can check out a digital camera or a Wacom Tablet. Need a color print? We provide several options. These include a very affordable color proofing print, a high quality color print for professional presentations, or you may wish to follow the dictum of Pentagrams Paula Scher: make it bigger. For that, we have just the color printer.
