Early Childhood Education Major with P-3 Teacher Certification

  • Program Description

    Completion of this major prepares educators to work with children from birth through eight years of age in a variety of child-development and school settings. Emphasis is placed on current theory and research in child development and application to early childhood education practice. Candidates for this certification must also complete one of the following liberal arts majors offered by the William J. Maxwell College of Arts and Sciences:

     Admission Requirements to any NJCU Education Program for students entering 9/1/2015 or later: 

    Program Completion: 

    • Completion of NJCU General Education Requirements or equivalent
    • A passing score on the Early Childhood Content Knowledge Praxis II Exam #5022 (must be taken prior to internship)
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0  
    • Successful completion of Early Childhood Education Internship
