  • New Jersey City University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. All NJCU education programs are approved by the New Jersey State Department of Education.


    The New Jersey City University Counseling program, which houses both the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and the School Counseling programs, received CACREP accreditation as of Spring 2014.

    What does this mean for you, as a student?

    CACREP programs: 

    • Provide quality education that meets or exceeds national standards.
    • Focus mainly on professional counseling to prepare students for entry into professional practice.
    • Help to ensure higher performance on the National Counselor's Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE).
    • Simplify the licensure application process.
