Elementary Education with Middle School Subject Endorsement

  • Program Description: 

    Completion of this major prepares one to be a teacher in elementary schools, grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Students in this major prepare to teach all core subjects. If you are an Elementary Education major and want to teach middle school, up to eighth grade, you can add a middle school endorsement in a specific content area. All requirements for the K-6 program must be met in addition to coursework, field work and a Praxis exam in your subject area.

    Admission Requirements to any NJCU Education Program for students entering 9/1/2015 or later: 

    • GPA of 3.0
    • Passing score on Praxis Core (or SAT/ACT waiver)
    • Passing score on the COE TOW&R assessment
    • Successful completion of all phase I coursework with a grade of B- or above

     Program Completion: 

    • Completion of NJCU General Education Requirements or equivalent
    • A passing score on the Elementary Education, Multiple Subjects Praxis II Exam (5001) and the specific Praxis subject matter exam (All Praxis exams must be taken prior to internship.)
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0  
    • Successful completion of Elementary Education Internship
