he Office of Employee Relations is responsible for developing, implementing and interpreting policies and programs for faculty, professional staff and managerial administrators. The office coordinates policies and programs for tenure, promotion, faculty range adjustments, sabbatical leaves and evaluation and reappointment procedures. In addition, the office monitors compliance with other policies, statutes and procedures. The office establishes and maintains a stable labor-relations environment between the University and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Applications for sabbatical
leaves during the 2016-2017 academic year are due by Monday, February 8,
2016. Faculty (including AHM faculty) and librarians who as of June
30, 2015 have completed a minimum of six consecutive years of service at the
University and have not had a sabbatical leave in seven years are eligible to
apply for a full year leave (two sabbaticals) at three quarters salary or
a half year leave (one sabbatical) at full salary..
