New Jersey City University GothicCard is a general purpose,
prepaid, declining balance purchase plan. All funds you add to your account are
actually held by the University in escrow for you, separate from the physical
GothicCard. You may add funds to the card by cash, personal check (payable to
New Jersey City University), money order, VISA, or MasterCard. Payment will be
placed on your GothicCard when we receive good funds. If we agree to fill your
card before your personal check has cleared, you understand and agree that you
will be liable to the University should your check return unpaid. In the event a
cardholder’s deposit check is returned due to insufficient funds, a $40.00 fee
will be assessed by the University Service Center. Upon notification by the
University Service Center, the cardholder's GothicCard Account will be suspended
until the returned check and $40.00 fee have been paid. The University Service
Center complies with the University policy on returned checks.
The University Service Center will administer all GothicCard
Account financial activities. Upon the initial deposit, the GothicCard will
establish an electronic balance in the cardholder’s name. All sale transactions
are deducted from the GothicCard Account electronically. The cardholder shall be
responsible for observing the sale transaction at the time of the sale and for
monitoring the current account balance. Each individual is responsible for
managing his/her account. A GothicCard is like cash, therefore protect it like
you would cash. Additions to your Gothic Card Account can be made at any time
during the semester, by filling out another application and remitting payment at
the University Service Center.
To activate your GothicCard
Account, you must place funds into your account. Once you have added funds to
your GothicCard, you cannot receive these funds back as cash unless you graduate
or officially withdraw from the University. Any funds remaining in your
GothicCard Account at the end of a semester will rollover into the next term.
Termination of Agreement The University retains the right to
terminate this Escrow Agreement and your participation in the GothicCard Program
at its sole and absolute discretion if (1) You use the card in a fraudulent
manner; (2) You breech any term or condition of this agreement. Please be
advised that New Jersey City University is not liable for a lost or stolen card
not reported. Cardholders shall be held liable for all amounts purchased until
notification has been given to the University Service Center.
Liability If you believe your card has been lost or stolen,
contact the University Service Center immediately. If you tell us within 2
business days, you can lose no more than$50 if someone used your Gothic Card
Funds fraudulently. If you do not contact us within 2 business days, you can
lose as much as $500. For the purpose of these disclosures, our business days
are Monday through Friday excluding University Holidays.
Disclosure of Account Information to 3rd PartiesThe
University Service Center is not allowed to disclose account information to 3rd
parties without the account holder’s written consent. If the student would like
their parent and/or guardian to have access to their account information, the
GothicCard Holder must notify the University Service Center in writing.
