Curriculum Requirements

  • NJCU's Health Information Management (HIM) program is a joint Bachelor of Science program with Rutgers School of Health Related Professions (SHRP). Students complete 68 credits of general education courses at NJCU and 61 additional credits of professional coursework in HIM at Rutgers. 

    Successful completion of the program will earn students:

    • A Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from NJCU and Rutgers SHRP. 
    • Eligibility for AHIMA's Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIA) certificate exam.

    NJCU offers two tracks: 

    Bachelor of Science in HIM, with Minor in Computer Science

    Upon completion of the general education curriculum above, students move to the professional component at Rutgers SHRP. The professional component includes didactic, laboratory, and clinical experiences.
