Media Arts Facilities

The Media Arts Department of New Jersey City University in Fries Hall houses a broadcast-quality television studio; dedicated digital media labs, a dedicated pro-tools lab, digital editing suites, and 16mm film production and editing labs. Classes take place in various labs including a studio/classroom for multi-media production, and two large projection/seminar rooms for screenings.

The George Karnoutsos Arts and Sciences Hall adjacent to Fries Hall features the Media Arts Recording Studios (MARS.) This state-of-the art audio facility houses a live recording studio, radio style control room, and a multi-track post-production suite. The facility was custom designed by John Storyk and Associates, five time winner of Mixmagazine's Technical Excellence + Creativity (TEC) Award in Acoustic Studio/ Facility Design. Storyk and Associates has overseen the studio designs at institutions such as NPR and Thirteen/WNET as well as the home recording studios for Stevie Wonder, Rick Rubin, and Whitney Houston.
