Driver Education Certification

  • New Jersey Certification for Driver Education

    Classroom and behind the wheel. This certificate program enhances a bachelor and master degree in health sciences and supports NJ certification for driver education.

    The requirements to earn this certificate include:

    • A valid New Jersey driver’s license of three or more years
    • A bachelor’s degree with certification in health sciences or physical education
    • Complete of one of the following courses:
       
    Course  Course Title  Credits 
    HLTH 5031  Defensive Driving Teaching Techniques 3
    HTLH 5051  Contemporary Methods, Materials &
    Evaluation in Driver Education
    3

    Note: ¹ Can be taken at the graduate or undergraduate level


    New York Provisional Certification for Driver Education

    Classroom and behind the wheel. This certificate program enhances a bachelor and master degrees in health sciences as well as New Jersey Certification for driver education.

    The requirements for entry to this certification program are: 

    • A valid New York driver’s license of two or more years
    • A bachelor’s degree
    • Take the following six credits:
       
    Course  Course Title  Credits 
    HLTH 5031  Defensive Driving Teaching Techniques 3
    HTLH 5051  Contemporary Methods, Materials &
    Evaluation in Driver Education
    3

    Note: ¹ Can be taken at the graduate or undergraduate level

    To earn a New York Permanent Certification for Driver Education students must complete the following six additional credits.

    HLTH 5061  Principles of Safety and Accident Prevention 3
    HTLH 5071  Trends and Issues in Driver Education 3
