  • Judith Kuchler,  recently retired Principal Clerk/Stenographer of the Opportunity Scholarship Program, received an award at the recent Honors & Recognition Ceremony for her 25 years of NJCU service, all of which took place with OSP. Other OSPers getting service awards were Robert Thurston (20 years) and Lenora Stroman (5 Years).    

    OSP Grad Students inducted into Chi Sigma Iota

    OSP Graduate Students Ana Robles and Randa Teriak were inducted into Chi Sigma Iota: Nu Eta Sigma in a ceremony held on April 30, 2013. Ms Robles and Ms Teriak are students in NJCU’s Educational Leadership and Counseling Department. CSI is an international honor society that values academic and professional excellence in counseling.

    Gallery exhibition features work of OSP Student 

    The prints of OSP student Saira Anum, an art major, were recently exhibited in the Visual Arts Gallery with the title “Construction Sight.” The exhibition was based on Saira’s fascination with the city under construction whose architecture, transmission towers and construction cranes are part of a growing industrial city.

    OSP Student Named NJAC Rookie of the Year 

    Basketball player and OSP student Khalid Muhammad, who dedicated this season to the memory of his friend Malcolm Bagley, has earned the NJAC Rookie of the Year Award. Khalid’s statistics include an average of 15 points a game, plus 4.9 rebounds.

    Sing Out, OSP

    Two OSP students finished well in competition at the New Jersey National Association of Teachers of Singing, Inc. (NATS), 2013 Festival of Singing, held February 16th at Rowan University.Andrew Darling of Irvington, a senior majoring in music, placed first in a category called “Advanced Upper,” and Kendall Bass(Jersey City), a senior majoring in classical voice performance, received a second place in “Senior Men.”

    OSP Counselor Honored by NCLS 

      The NJCU chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success [NCLS] honored OSP counselor John Smith for his outstanding contributions to NJCU students with the Excellence in Student Service Award, which was given at an induction ceremony on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. The award signifies John's accomplishments and is student-selected.

    Raul Garcia ’04 had a three-minute film, “Crude Remains,” shown on the national Chiller Cable Channel on Halloween Night 2010. Mr. Garcia is an English tutor in OSP.
