These are exciting times at New Jersey City University!
As the newly appointed president of this outstanding public university, I am delighted to welcome you to NJCU and invite you to join me in becoming a part of our community.
This institution has been a center of learning and educational opportunity in New Jersey for more than eight decades. The University opened its doors as a teacher training school in 1929, then grew to become a liberal arts college in 1968, and in 1998 achieved university status. This year, NJCU marked another milestone, launching its first doctoral program. We continue to grow and evolve to keep our academic offerings in sync with the needs of informed and responsible citizens in a rapidly changing world.
NJCU’s founding principles – access and excellence – have remained strong through the years as our academic focus has expanded from normal school training to 41 undergraduate degree major programs and 28 graduate degree programs offered in three colleges.
Our talented faculty and staff are committed to excellence in teaching and academic support for our student body of about 8,500 students from across New Jersey, the United States, and 39 countries around the globe. The richness of diversity and the multiculturalism of our city, our campus community, our alumni, neighbors, and friends make this university an especially stimulating and rewarding educational environment in which to study, teach, work, live, and socialize.
So much is happening here. I hope you’ll come visit our campus – first-hand or online – to see just how rewarding the NJCU experience can be.
