City: Past and Present, Project Members
Project
Administrator: Patrick Shalhoub, MA, MLS, is the Head
of the Periodicals and Government Documents Department of the Congressman
Frank J. Guarini Library at New Jersey City University. He received
his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and his graduate
degrees from New York University and Rutgers University. Mr. Shalhoub
is the author of Images of America: Jersey City (Arcadia, 1995).
He has worked in the New Jersey Room of the Jersey City Free Public
Library as well as in the Library/Learning Resources Center of the
Hudson County Community College. Mr. Shalhoub is a member of the American
Library Association and the New Jersey Library Association.
Historical
Researcher: Carmela A. Karnoutsos, Ph.D., is a professor
of history at New Jersey City University and an alumna of New Jersey
City University. She received her graduate degrees from New York University.
Dr. Karnoutsos is the author of New Jersey Women: A History of
Their Status, Roles and Images (New Jersey Historical Commission,
1997) and an associate editor of Past and Promise: Lives of New
Jersey Women (Scarecrow Press, 1990). A charter member and former
trustee of the Bayonne Historical Society, Inc., Dr. Karnoutsos also
serves on the Bayonne Historic Preservation Commission and the Bayonne
Community Museum Board of Trustees. She is a member of the American
Historical Association and the New Jersey Historical Society. Dr.
Karnoutsos teaches a web-enhanced course on the history of New Jersey.
Multimedia/Graphical
Design Consultant: James V.Musante, BS, is a member of
the Office of Information Technology Services Department at NJCU.
He is a graduate of New Jersey City University.
Copy
Editor: Fred Smith, MA, MS, is the Head of the Reference
Department at the Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library. Mr. Smith
received graduate degrees from New York University and Columbia University.
Photographer:
Aurora Selvaggio, BA, is a graduate of New Jersey City University,
where she was a photographer major. She started with the project as
part of the university's Cooperative Education Program. Please contact

Cooperative
Education Student: Eryn Cully is a gradiate of New Jersey
City University and was an art major specializing in graphic design
techniques. She also has an associate degree in graphic design from
Briarcliffe College, Patchoque, NY.
