Faculty teaching late afternoon and evening classes may wish to maintain a closing chain with students so that faculty and students can be notified of a canceled class before traveling to the campus.

When University classes are not canceled but a faculty member is unable to reach the campus because of weather conditions or for other reasons, the department chair's office should be notified immediately. In addition to telephone, text, or email messages sent to students directly by a faculty member, notices of class cancellation will be posted on classroom where the class is scheduled to meet.
