NJCU DAY 2016 - Saturday, September 24

Main Campus of New Jersey City University, 2039 Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City

Please join us for NJCU Day as we showcase all that New Jersey City University has to offer. 

11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Block Party hosted by NJCU’s John J. Moore Athletics Center (on Culver Avenue near West Side Avenue)

12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.

  • Music, Fun and Games, on the NJCU Green hosted by NJCU President Sue Henderson
  • Tours of Campus

  • NJCU Faculty Art Exhibit in Hepburn Hall

  • Performances by NJCU students, and other entertainers including a jump rope demonstration by the Honeybees

  • Games and activities for children and young adults

  • Photo ops with NJCU Gothic Knight Mascot

We welcome back all NJCU alumni to this special day and congratulate classes celebrating milestones this year including: 1966, 1976, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2006, 2016 and Golden Gothics with milestone years from 1930 to 1966.

Enhance the Power of Your Personal Brand
Gain Insight about how to define, build and strengthen your personal brand. Learn the simple steps to ensure you stand out and are recognized.
Presenter: Dr. Kathleen Rennie, Associate Professor, Marketing and National Security Studies.

Starting Your Own Business
Enjoy an interactive session about starting your own business featuring School of Business faculty, small business experts and NJCU alumni entrepreneurs.
Presenters: Don Egan, Adjunct Professor, Marketing and Marketing Consultant, NJ Small Business Development Center at NJCU; Gail Marquis, Director, NJCU Business Development Incubator; Dr. Wanda Rutledge, Assistant Professor and Chair, Management.

What You Need to Succeed as a Recent Graduate
Meet representatives from NJCU’s alumni relations, career planning, graduate admissions and continuing education offices, and hear from a financial literacy expert about what you need to know to succeed as a recent college graduate. 

Election 2016
Learn the “ins and outs” of the Presidential election process from an expert in the field.

Homecomings: A Memoir Workshop for Alumni
Join fellow NJCU alumni to remember shared times at your alma mater through accessible interactive memoir writing exercises.
Presenter: Dr. Edvige Giunta, Professor, Department of English.

Jersey City Bus Tour*

Enjoy a bus tour of Jersey City. Jersey City experts on NJCU’s faculty and staff will discuss the historic and architectural highlights along the way.
Presenters: Dr. Timothy White, Associate Professor, Department of History and Patrick Shalhoub, Periodicals Librarian, Congressman Frank J. Guarini Library.

12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
NJCU Alumni Barbecue*

Enjoy delicious fare, performances by students from the Department of Music, Dance and Theatre, a Honeybees jumprope competition, an old-school breakdancing demonstration, games and amusements for children and young adults. 

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Milestone Anniversary Celebration and All-Class Reception* 

All alumni are invited to celebrate with the milestone classes including the classes of 1966, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2006, 1976, 2016 and Golden Gothics with milestone years from 1930 to 1966. Enjoy a sumptuous spread of food, music and more!
