7 Scholarships and 2 Stipends Available

Attention STEM Scholars: NJCU is excited to announce a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for STEM majors who wish to obtain a teaching certificate in their respective field of study.
With help from a recently awarded National Science Foundation grant, this Spring NJCU will award 7 scholarships of up to $17,000/year to Juniors and Seniors completing baccalaureate degrees with a teacher certification.
Additionally, NJCU will award 2 stipends for up to $17,000/year to STEM professionals and graduating STEM Seniors who wish to complete the requirements for a NJ teacher certifications.
Application Deadline is March 17, 2017.
The first set of awards will be distributed in Summer/Fall 2017. In addition to scholarships and stipends, participants will be provided with mentoring, supplemental instruction, and professional development. Awards are competitive, and scholarship recipients will be selected primarily on the basis of academic merit and commitment to teaching. Noyce Scholars must commit to teaching in high-need school districts for two years for every year of funding they receive.
Who is eligible?
· Junior or Senior undergraduates majoring in Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Geoscience, or Biology with teacher certification
· STEM professionals with a degree in STEM field who are seeking secondary teacher certification
· Applicants must have a cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher, GPA 2.75 or higher in major, and be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident alien
· Noyce Scholars must complete two years of teaching in a high-need school district for each year of support.
