NJCU Fulbright Student Selected to Attend Selective REDI Program

Fabiana Rebollo, an elementary/special education and English major graduating in May 2017 from NJCU, has been selected to attend the highly selective Rutgers English Diversity Institute at Rutgers University. The Rutgers English Diversity Institute (REDI) is a week-long program held on the flagship campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.

REDI is designed to encourage current students and recent graduates from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic backgrounds to consider graduate study in Literatures in English. At REDI, students learn about the different subfields in English and American literature, and emerging fields and approaches, from Rutgers University faculty who are at the vanguard of these developments. REDI activities include seminars, lectures, workshops on applying for graduate school and on digital resources in literary studies, a trip to a research library, and a cultural excursion to New York City.

The dozen or so students chosen from a national pool of applicants will each receive a $500 stipend for participating in the program. Rutgers University and REDI also cover all travel and living expenses for the duration of the program. REDI is co-directed by distinguished Rutgers faculty, Cheryl Wall, Evie Shockley, and Carter Mathes.

Fabiana Rebollo is the second NJCU student to be selected to attend REDI. She follows in the footsteps of Sinia Amanonce, a secondary education English major, who attended REDI in Summer 2015. Both exceptional students were also awarded Fulbright awards. Sinia is currently completing her Fulbright in the Czech Republic. Fabiana will embark on her Fulbright to Uruguay in the fall.
