NJCU has been designated a 2018 Military Friendly School and is also among the 2018 Top Colleges and Universities for Military Advanced Education and Transition, it was announced yesterday.

Military Friendly, owned and operated by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business, is defined as a standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefit for the military community.

NJCU’s placement among the 2018 Top Colleges and Universities is based on an extensive survey for the Military Advanced Education & Transition Guide to Colleges and Universities that evaluates colleges and universities on military culture, financial aid for veterans, flexibility, on-campus support, and online support services.

There are 242 military-connected students enrolled at NJCU for the fall 2017 semester, according to Elaine Gargiulo, Director, Military & Veterans Services at NJCU. That number includes veterans, National Guard reservists, spouses, dependents, active military service members, and members of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

Some of the military friendly practices NJCU handles include: serving as a one-stop shop for academic advisement/registration; claims processing of GI Bill benefits; advocacy, referrals, and education for the community, and priority registration.
