NJCU Held 29th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on January 17
Keynote: Lawrence Hamm, President of People’s Organization for Progress
Jersey City, N.J., January 11, 2018 – Lawrence Hamm, a civil rights and social justice activist and president of the People’s Organization for Progress (POP), spoke at New Jersey City University’s 29th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Luncheon on Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
Sponsored by NJCU’s Lee Hagan Africana Studies Center led by Will Guzman, the theme for this year’s celebration was “The Politics of War & Militarism in a Post-King Era.”
MLK Scholarships were presented by BAAFSSO President Leah Jackson to Nasir McDaniels and Rashad Wright.
Venida C. Rodman Jenkins, M. Div., Director, NJCU Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity was name the Community Service Honoree.
The NJCU Unity Ensemble, directed by Dr. Meridia Warren performed selections.
