NJCU School of Business Institute for Dispute Resolution Joins with FDU Rothman Institute and Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle for Forum on ‘Data Protection and Small Business’ on 3/27

Conversation to Focus on General Data Protection Regulation and Protecting Your Data

Jersey City, N.J. (March 16, 2018) – The New Jersey City University (NJCU) School of Business Institute for Dispute Resolution will partner with the Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for a scholastic forum – “Data Protection and Small Business: A Conversation on General Data Protection Regulation and Protecting Your Data” – on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at the Metropolitan Club, Alumni Hall on the FDU Metro Campus in Teaneck, N.J.

Global data and privacy of that data is fast becoming a requirement of companies to regulate and provide adequate compliance measures. Policy is directing that operations for even micro, family, and small companies dedicate resources to how they control and process data they collect on others. Recently, a law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was passed in the European Union (EU) and will go into effect in May. This new law has strict new privacy restrictions governing the use, collection, and storage of personal data. Experts will discuss GDPR and how your business should be better prepared to protect its data in the U.S. and abroad.

The keynote speaker at the forum will be New Jersey Assemblywoman Valerie Huttle (D-37 District). A panel discussion will follow, moderated by Professor David Weiss, Esq., Founding Director of the NJCU School of Business Institute for Dispute Resolution. Four distinguished panels will participate: Rufiya Blank, Vice President, New Business Development, Kompass North America; Lena Licata, Director, Consulting Services, Eisner Amper; Laszlo Molnar, NJCU Associate Professor, Department of Professional Security Studies; and Kenneth Rashbaum, Partner, Barton, LLP.

The event is sponsored by Global Enterprise Network.
