NJCU business students’ research projects were highlighted during the NJCU School of Business Third Annual Business Research Showcase, hosted last month in the School’s Skyline Room.

Students, faculty and staff attended the event, which drew 32 student participants, with 22 presentations in two categories: six podium presentations and 16 poster presentations. The winners in each category received gift, cards along with certificates acknowledging their first, second, or third-place finish. All participants in the competition received appreciation certificates.

The competition was judged by a panel of judges from the Economics, Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing Departments, as well as professional staff and visiting scholars.

“We have really come a long way in the progress made with NJCU’s Business Student Research Showcase,” said Michael Bell, Assistant Professor in the Accounting Department. “The sophistication and professionalism of the student product, in both the oral and podium competition, was at a very high level this year, and will continue to increase.”

During the awards ceremony, Dr. Kathleen Rennie, a professor in the Marketing Department, was recognized as the Student Research Mentor of the Year.

“We are excited to have this third event at the School of Business. After moving to Harborside, the faculty, staff, and students are actively participating in helping to enhance the academic culture by building a positive student research tradition with both student and faculty engagement at NJCU,” said EunSu Lee,  chair of the standing committee on Business and Economics Research.

“We are so proud of our students and their hard work, as we continue to build and expand the Research Showcase,” said Dr. Bernard McSherry, Founding Dean of the School of Business. “I’d like to thank all the participants, including the committee members who organized this event.”
