New Jersey City University is one of the safest urban campuses in the nation, and the NJCU Department of Public Safety has been recognized for its efforts in increasing the safety and security of the campus community.
NJCU's Department of Public Safety were ranked No. 2 in the state and No. 15 in the nation in the 2020 Top 25 Safe Campus Summit list recently unveiled as part of The National Campus Safety Summit.
NJCU was the highest ranked public school between 5,000 and 10,000 students in the nation.
The NJCU Department of Public Safety is led by Ron Hurley DSc CPP, Associate Vice President of Public Safety and Joe Rodriguez, the Director of Public Safety, along with a staff of more than 50 professionals.
“We are proud of the work our department does and these rankings demonstrate to the nation what we already knew — we are successful because of our NJCU community and the Jersey City community,” said Hurley. “We are all in this together. We are especially proud of how our staff has really stepped up in this past year under stressful circumstances during the pandemic. They always go above and beyond to ensure those who live, learn, and work at NJCU always have a safe experience.”
The National Campus Safety Summit is the premier conference on university and college safety.
