The NJCU Foundation Board and President Sue Henderson honored the faculty and staff of the university for their service and outstanding achievements on December 3, 2020 during the 7th Annual Special Thanks and Recognition of Service (STARS) Awards. The event was held in a hybrid virtual event format on campus.
The Information Technology Department was awarded the Making It Happen Award while Delia Matos was bestowed the Presidential Award: Top Knight. The Rising Star went to Walter Nugent while Ana Aponte was named the Hidden Hero. The Community Service Award was presented to Robert Quinones for his work with food insecurity.
Milestone Awards for Continuous Service and Retiree Awards were also presented. The 2020 Employee of the Month recipients were also recognized.
The STARS program was introduced in 2014 as a way to recognize and highlight the exceptional work done by employees of the University. Watch the awards broadcast.

Presidential Award: Top Knight: Top Knight is an award given to an individual who has served as a model to our community, and has exhibited an attitude of excellence and professionalism while carrying out duties. This employee has shown independent thinking, good judgement, interest in self-development, and a desire to work beyond the limits of a job description. By his or her actions, this individual personifies the mission of our University.
