JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New Jersey City University (NJCU), led by its Office of Military & Veterans Services, has been recognized by the Military Times by being named to its 2024 “Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges” rankings, released this month. It is the third consecutive year NJCU has been recognized as a Best for Vets honoree.

NJCU is one of only three four-year public universities in New Jersey to be honored. NJCU has been honored each year since 2022 by the Military TImes — the trusted source for independent news and information for service members and their families — with inclusion in the largest and most comprehensive annual list recognizing the top colleges and universities for military service members and veterans.

This year, an impressive 304 schools made the list, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the military community in their educational journeys. Of those, only 29 are from the Mid-Atlantic Region and just five are from New Jersey — four four-year institutions and one county college.

Elaine Gargiulo, Director of Military & Veterans Services at NJCU, said: “As we celebrate and honor our heroic veterans on this Veterans Day, we are proud to be listed on the Best for Vets list for the third year in a row. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for our veterans and their families and look forward to supporting them through their academic career at NJCU."

Each year, Military Times surveys colleges and universities nationwide to evaluate their veteran-focused programs. These survey responses, along with public data sourced from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs, undergo a rigorous analysis by the Military Times data team to produce a trusted, unbiased ranking.

For over a decade, Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges has helped veterans make informed choices about their educational futures, showcasing institutions dedicated to supporting their unique needs. “Our comprehensive survey and thoughtful methodology ensure that our rankings remain a trusted resource,” said Jon Simkins, Executive Editor at Sightline Media Group, parent company of Military Times.

These rankings have become a vital tool for veterans seeking guidance on maximizing their educational benefits and for schools to highlight their veteran programs.
