We serve nearly 8,000 students in 47 undergraduate and 30 graduate programs in wide-ranging fields including education, business, the fine and performing arts, the sciences, health and the humanities.
With a student population that is largely first-generation and from modest financial means, NJCU meets their needs through close advising, mentoring, affordable tuition, and a Debt-Free Promise Program to ensure they aren't saddled by debt when they graduate.
Our students include first-time students, transfer students, returning students, military members, working parents, professionals looking to change their careers—and more. But no matter how they may differ from each other, all have these things in common: they work hard for their successes and NJCU supports them in changing their lives.

Affordable
#PayLessEarnMore. NJCU is one of the most affordable public four-year colleges in the state and students graduate with the lowest rate of indebtedness of any other public college in New Jersey. And, Washington Monthly ranked NJCU as one of the "Best Bang for the Buck" colleges in the Northeast in 2019.
As home to the Debt-Free Promise, we provide a scholarship in lieu of loans (after federal and state financial aid is awarded) for all first-year students who are New Jersey residents admitted to NJCU from high school who attend full time, with a family household income of $65,000 or less. Plus, we are proud to partner with the State of New Jersey to offer the Garden State Guarantee. Under this program, New Jersey residents with houshold incomes of less than $65,000 will also pay a net price of $0 for tuition and fees during their third and fourth years of study.
