Join us for the NJCU Lemmerman Gallery presentation of Children On the Line: Weiwei Lo MFA Exhibition
This exhibition will showcase Weiwei Lo’s recent painting series, “Children of Lesotho” and “Children of War”. Both projects consist of small watercolor portraits of disadvantaged children. The former is based on the artist's sketches and photographs made in person while teaching children in the African nation of Lesotho in 2024. The image sources for the latter project are recent war victims found in news and magazines on the internet. The purpose is not only to evoke our childhood memories but also to remind us that the innocence of children is slowly destroyed by the cruelty of the world’s chaos.
Weiwei Lo is a Chinese American painter who studies and lives in Jersey City. Her present interest is figurative realist painting. She will receive her MFA from New Jersey City University in 2025. During her long career, Weiwei has worked as a mathematics teacher, computer programmer, and information systems analyst. She has also accumulated rich experiences in Chinese calligraphy and painting before her exposer to Western art. In recent years, she has focused on the series "Children of Lesotho" and “Children of War”, which are small watercolor portrait paintings of disadvantaged children. Weiwei hopes that she will continue a productive artistic life.
