The Fitzgerald Lab is an interdisciplinary marine ecology lab that focuses on our local urban estuary and how organisms living within are affected by humans and our activities in the water. Projects examining oyster restoration, intertidal invertebrate community ecology, microplastics and plastic pollution, and advocacy in our estuary allow students to connect with local non-profit and government groups in our area. Community science (citizen science) and outreach education to youth are two pillars of our lab, and I invite all to come join us in field work and get your hands wet and boots muddy!
