Summary

Dr. Morales is a tenured professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Literacy at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, N.J.. He earned his B.S. in English and Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration and Policy Analysis from New York University, and his M.Ed. in Educational Administration from William Paterson University.   

A New York and New Jersey state-certified English/Language arts teacher, Dr. Morales has taught middle and high school English and college writing, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in educational sociology/psychology, pedagogy, and research methods. 

Dr. Morales is a noted expert on the concept of academic resilience (the process of exceptionally high academic achievement amid significant psycho-social-educational stressors). This critical phenomenon was his dissertation topic, the subject of three subsequent books and over 15 published research articles, as well as myriad presentations in both the United States and abroad. 

Previously, Dr. Erik served as an Associate Dean at Pace University, Director of the University Learning Center at Rider University, a Student Development Specialist/Advisor at Brookdale County College, and an Assistant Director of Admissions and Diversity at New York University.
