Summary

Dr. Ning Liao is currently Associate Professor of Political Science at New Jersey City University (NJCU). His scholarship centers on the international relations of East Asia, specifically Chinese foreign policy and U.S.-China relations. His scholarly interests have more directly focused on the interaction between the status seeking of emerging powers and the identity conflict in international security. He also investigates the construction of collective memory and strategic narratives in the nexus of domestic politics and foreign relations. His research has appeared in refereed journals, such as Global Affairs, Asian Politics & Policy, East Asia, China Quarterly of International Strategic Studies, American Journal of Chinese Studies, and Asian Profile, as well as an edited volume published by the University of Michigan Press.

A faculty advisor of the National Model United Nations (NMUN) simulation, Dr. Liao directs the NJCU’s delegation to the annual conference of the MNUN in New York City every spring. In addition to the UN courses he regularly offers, Dr. Liao's teaching covers introductory and advanced courses in international relations and global affairs, classes offered through the Political Science Department and Global Studies Program of NJCU.
