Please note: This is a non-degree certification program.
The NJCU ESL Alternate Route program provides a process for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree (or higher) to become certified ESL teachers by taking classes while they are doing their first two years of teaching under a Provisional License. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for the NJDOE ESL Certification. Additionally, candidates who wish to pursue the Master’s degree upon completion may continue onto the M.A in Urban Education with Specialization in ESL for ESL Alternate Route Completers program.
