As a child, when not paying attention in class, or not listening to my parents, I would often fantasize myself in a different world. A place where I could create my own environment and characters with just my sketchbook and pencil. I developed an interest in fantasy art, which I believe helps the viewer to imagine an outside the box existence, unrestricted by a normal life.

Throughout history, Mythical creatures have been a part of our lives for generations to generations. Their stories have left an everlasting impression in cultures and in pop culture. In my series “Monster Island”, I try to capture these mythical beasts in their natural habitat. I created an environment where these creatures can roam.

I use a mixture of drawing, painting, and digital media. My inspiration comes from fictional films and graphic novels. The works presented are created with a gray toned paper, ink pens, white and black charcoal pencils. I gather my references by looking up a variety of different animals. To understand the basic body and facial features.

Beginning with this series, I hope to inspire young audiences in the same manner I was during my formative years.
