Services We Provide
Support Services for Online Learning
The Department of Online Learning (DOL) provides a broad range of support services to assist both instructors and academic programs in creating high-quality and engaging online courses. For instructors, DOL offers one-on-one course development consultations as well as faculty development programming to bolster confidence and skills in designing and delivering courses in online environments. For academic programs, DOL can assist with ensuring quality and consistency across courses as well as with accreditation processes and state and international authorizations.
Accessibility Services
Online courses have various requirements they need to meet under the law to ensure accessibility. DOL helps faculty design courses to meet those requirements, while also providing support resources to help faculty help themselves understand the requirements better. Visit our Accessibility Services page for more information or to request services.
Educational Technology Services
Online learning cannot succeed without the use of functional educational technology tools. DOL works with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify what supported educational technology tools can fulfill needs, how to build engaging activities around them, and how to ensure their use meets quality assurance and accessibility standards. Visit our Educational Technology Services page for more information or to request services.
Instructional Design Services
DOL provides robust support to both instructors and programs in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality online courses that meet the standards of programs and accrediting organizations. From assistance with planning online-friendly assignments to helping build courses in Blackboard, our team can assist instructors and programs in realizing their ideal online classes. Visit our Instructional Design page for more information or to request services.
Professional Development
DOL provides a number of professional development opportunities for instructors and programs wanting to learn more about how to successfully teach online. The Fundamentals of Online Teaching (FOT) is an asynchronous course offered through Blackboard established to help faculty learn about best practices and standards when delivering an online course. In addition to the FOT, DOL coordinates regular workshops and webinars focusing on more structured topics surrounding online learning and facilitation, the upcoming sessions listed in the right sidebar. Visit our Professional Development page for more information or to request services.
Quality Assurance Services
Assuring that online courses are meeting consistent quality standards is a necessity for program accreditation or certification, and it’s also crucial to the success and satisfaction of students participating in online environments. DOL can assist both individual faculty members and programs with the process of assuring the quality of their online courses through the Quality Matters (QM) rubric, which provides nationally-recognized standards for online course design. Visit our Quality Assurance Services page for more information or to request services.
