New Jersey City University has been accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1959.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education's Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation are a nationally-recognized framework for quality assurance, and the Commission's authority as an institutional accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
