Training
New Jersey Law requires that every State employee, including employees of New Jersey City University (NJCU), receive annual ethics training. For employees of NJCU this training is available on-line through the State Ethics Commission website. Prior to each training period, employees and faculty will be provided with a Save the Date email followed by an official training announcement. A separate training program is also available specifically for the University’s Board of Trustees, which are also referred to as Special State Officers.
This full State Ethics training needs to be completed not less than every third year (i.e., academic year 2021-2022, 2024-2025, etc.). On the off years (2019-2020, 2020-2021, etc.), employees can complete the ethics briefing. Employees who are new to the College in an off year will complete the full training in that initial year and after that follow NJCU’s regular training schedule. The Office of Human Resources is responsible for providing the University’s Ethics Officers with the names of any new employees. These new hires are given ethics information from one of the University’s Ethics Officers and advised they are to complete the training during the first 60 days of employment.
- Faculty requiring full training should complete the new College and University Faculty Training Module
- Employees who require the full training should complete the State Employee Training Module.
- Training is offered via Zoom. Links will be sent out a few days before the scheduled training date. Training for College employees without Internet access at work can dial in using the Zoom platform.
- University Board of Trustees members will receive online training focused on their roles as Special State Officers.
Adjunct faculty and other part-time employees must certify that they have read the “Ethics Standards in Brief” in lieu of completing the online full training or briefing.
