Gothic Knight Ally Safe Zone Program
Gothic Knight Ally Safe Zone Training
About Gothic Knight Ally Safe Zone Training: Have you noticed the rainbow pride stickers in various buildings throughout campus? These stickers convey a message of support, respect and affirmation to NJCU students, staff and faculty who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and/or Queer (LGBTQ). The Gothic Knight Ally Safe Zone Program is working diligently to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for members of this community as well as everyone who visits this campus. In the true spirit of diversity and community, would you consider joining our efforts? If so, you have the opportunity to attend a comprehensive four-hour interactive training to:
- help facilitate the coming-out process
- provide accurate information about the LGBTQIA+ community
- publicize support resources that are available on and off campus
After the training, participants are able to sign a pledge expressing their agreement with the program’s mission and goals. Those whose pledges have been approved will receive the NJCU Safe Zone Symbol – a Gothic Knight Ally sticker – which they can proudly display throughout campus from personal workstations to residence hall rooms. The Gothic Knight Ally Sticker identifies members of our community who are willing to support an inclusive environment, and oppose all forms of anti-LGBTQIA+ prejudice..
