How to Apply For Housing

Application Process And More!

If you would like to be considered for NJCU housing for the upcoming academic year, please read the following information carefully. If you fail to meet any deadlines or if you miss any steps listed throughout the housing selection process, you may be unable to secure housing for the upcoming academic year.

Housing Selection Process.

All students applying for housing must be registered full-time and if domestic, have filed their FAFSA.

  • Outstanding Balance: All residential students must be cleared by Student Accounts to reside on campus. For more information about paying your bill please email bursar@njcu.edu
    •  If you have an outstanding balance for the current, or for previous terms, depending on your balance, you will be ineligible to be placed on housing. It is your responsibility to clear any pending charges with the bursar office.
    • If you have financial hold at the time of housing selection, you are not allowed to reserve a bed space. Once the balance has been reduced, you will be eligible to participate in housing selection as long as we have open spaces.

  • REGISTRATION AND CLEARANCE All residential students are required to be registered full-time/12 credits or more for the Spring 2024 semester to reside on campus. If you are not registered, please contact your academic advisor. You can check your GothicNet student dashboard for advisor information.

  • Up to Date Immunizations: All first-time resident students at New Jersey City University MUST provide proof of Meningococcal Vaccine.  The Office of Housing and Residence Life is not permitted by law to allow students to move into housing without these vaccinations. All first-time resident students at NJCU MUST provide proof of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) within the past 5 years. Please contact Health and Wellness should you have any questions regarding this: 201-200-3456. Immunization Requirements

    • You are required to submit proof of vaccination status prior to signing up for housing and moving into a residence hall. Failure to submit proper immunization documentation will result in housing being forfeited.

  • Minimum GPA: Students are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to remain in the residence halls. Students whose GPA falls below 2.0 may be subject to removal from housing.
