Transfer Resources

Transfer Resources

WELCOME TO THE TRANSFER RESOURCE CENTER (TRC).

The aim of the TRC is to provide services to both new and continuing transfer students. Services include:

  • Campus tours

  • Individualized advisement

  • Professional and academic support program referrals

  • Student mentor program.

STUDENT TRANSCRIPTS CAN BE EVALUATED TWO WAYS:

Course by Course: Transfer credit evaluation that specifies the courses and credit hours successfully earned and transfered to NJCU from a previous institution.  Course by course evaluations do not waive the All Undergraduate Requirements (AURs) or the General Studies Requirements.  Therefore, students are responsible for fulfiling any incomplete areas.

Blanket Credit:  Transfer credit evaluation that grants students credit for their degrees, waiving the All Undergraduate Requirements (AURs) or the General Studies Requirements. Students who are awaded blanket credit are eligible to direct their attention solely to major coursework.  Blanket credit specifications are identified below.

BLANKET CREDIT FOR ASSOCIATE DEGREES

Blanket Credit is awarded to students who have one of the following degrees from an accredited college or university in NJ only:

  • Associate in Arts (AA) Degree (max of 66 credits awarded)

  • Associate in Science (AS) Degree (max of 66 credits awarded)

*Please note that Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degrees are evaluated on a course by course basis only.

  • Bachelor of Science (BS)

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA)

*Please note that credits from International Schools are evaluated on a course by course basis only.

TRANSFER STUDENT GRIEVANCE/APPEAL PROCESS

The Agreement and accompanying appeals procedure are not intended to initiate a request for course substitutions. Students wishing to make such a request should file a “Request to Substitute General Studies Area Requirements” form.

Appeals must include both the reason for appeal and all supporting documentation to verify course credit and placement.

The transfer student must file a written complaint with the Director of University Advisement Center within thirty days on any evaluation decision with which the student is not in agreement, to the following email address: jduff@njcu.edu.

Upon receipt of the Director’s decision, which is due to the student within fifteen days of receipt, the student may appeal directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs within ten days. The Vice President’s decision is final and is due to the student within ten days of receipt.

All decisions will be communicated to the student via the student’s NJCU email address and mailing address, which requires the student to establish a GothicNet ID and maintain a current, up-to-date mailing address prior to submitting the form. For additional information, please download the full text of the Comprehensive Statewide Transfer Agreement, endorsed by the NJ Presidents’ Council on September 22, 2008.
