Learning Remotely

Resources for Students and Faculty

  • Loaner Laptops

    • The University is committed to ensuring that you can complete your coursework online during the Fall 2021 semester. In preparation for students to effectively learn online, NJCU has purchased and will be distributing some loaner laptops to those who do not have access to a personal computer.

    • Note: NJCU students in need of a computer and/or Internet access to complete their coursework can utilize the technology resources available in the Library and Computer Labs in the Professional Studies building, room 103, during the Fall 2021 semester.

    • If you need assistance in securing a loaner laptop, please submit a request by selecting the “Technology Loaner Request” tile on the landing Student Homepage on GothicNet. Once you have scheduled a pickup on a convenient day and time slot and have agreed to the technology loaner agreement terms and conditions, you will receive a confirmation in your NJCU email with the location of the pickup. The loaner equipment is to be used only by the person it was issued to and for educational purposes.

  • Student and Faculty Access to NJCU Lab Computers from Remote Locations (using Splashtop)

The Department of Information Technology is providing NJCU students who need access to specialized software such as SPSS, Adobe, GIS, Visual Studio, etc., the ability to remotely connect to select NJCU Lab Computers using Splashtop, from a PC or MAC computer or Mobile Device with Internet access.

Students and Faculty should download and review the instructions on how to use Splashtop and how to connect to the available lab computers using the link below.

  • Getting Help:
    • If you need help with an academic issue, it is usually best to use Blackboard Learn's self-contained Course Messages tool to send a private message to the professor within the course or follow specific instructions that your professor may provide for contacting him/her. If you have a non-academic, technical Blackboard related issue you may put in a ticket with the IT Help Desk for additional support.
    • Please note that during this time of interruption, NJCU will be providing additional support options for students. Up to date information will be announced on the NJCU Blackboard Landing page in the days to come.
