Technology Training
The Department of Information Technology provides a variety of technology training opportunities for NJCU faculty and staff. All training topics are designed from beginners to advanced through a comfortable and interactive learning environment. Each of the training sessions provide all of the necessary skills and knowledge to improve your effective use of technology tools in the workplace, as well as in the classroom.
Available training classes include Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office Tools, Lecture Capture (Panopto), Interactive Displays (BrightLink), Zoom (Video Conferencing), Qualtrics (Online Survey and Form System), as well as other topics upon request. Please register now!

In order to provide our faculty and staff with the opportunity to improve their knowledge, use and implementation of technology, we have designed our training sessions to meet the needs of the University community. The technology training offered by the Department of Information Technology can be provided in group sessions (both small or large), as well as one-on-one (for individual assistance).

BrightLink Interactive Projectors for Education are available in most classrooms. Interactive Projectors can be used to display and interact with images, documents, browser sessions including Blackboard and GothicNet, PowerPoint files, etc.
The training topics include:
- Discover how to operate and teach effectively with Epson BrightLink Projector
- Learn how to use the Interactive Projector as a whiteboard and how to save and distribute lecture notes to students
- Learn how to use the interactive pen to control the application from the whiteboard
- How to easily access, manipulate, and display teaching materials on the large interactive whiteboard

The training is designed for beginners as an introduction to using the overhead BrightLink Interactive Projectors.
Panopto is a flexible and easy-to-use lecture capturing platform. It allows faculty and presenters to capture, edit, share, and archive recordings of classroom lectures and presentations. Lecture capture at NJCU is an effective means to record live classroom presentations that can easily be shared with students for later review and also included as part of online courses.

An easy-to-learn workshop that will provide a useful introduction on how to get the most out of using your computer.
The training topics include:
- Organizing files and folders
- How to create and manage keyboard shortcuts
- Setting up and customizing toolbars and favorites
- Clearing cached files and cookies on all browsers
- Customize the Windows settings, including fonts, colors, backgrounds, etc.
- Creating and managing desktop shortcuts
- About the start menu, search (Cortana) and taskbar
- How to use task view and multiple desktops
- How to pin frequently used programs for quick access

Microsoft Word is an advanced word-processing program designed to help you easily create professional-quality documents. You'll learn how to organize and structure your documents more efficiently. During the training, we will go through the basic steps to get you started so you can create, edit, save, and print a professional-looking document.
The training topics include:
- How to do a mail merge
- Setting up labels
- Tracking changes from one version to another
- Creating and using keyboard shortcuts

You will learn how to swipe and tap your way through easily creating professional-looking presentations. PowerPoint has a wide selection of high-quality themes for all types of projects to make it quick and easy to get started. You'll learn how to create professional-looking presentations that will represent your ideas effectively while delivering your ideas to the audience using basic animation, transitions, and other editing tools.

Excel is an incredibly powerful spreadsheet tool when working with data. While it is a powerful tool, it can also be used for simple calculations. We will start with the basic steps and slowly expand from there. You'll learn how to enter and organize data into rows and columns, allowing you to add up your data, sort and filter it, create tables, and by the end, you'll learn how to build great-looking charts.

Microsoft Outlook is one of the most popular and powerful email and calendar applications available. The training includes easy-to-follow and step-by-step instructions. Learn how to use Outlook to help improve and manage daily tasks, organize emails, create meetings, appointments and reminders, and much more.

- How to search through emails and find things quickly
- Setting up reminders for appointments, meetings, to-dos, etc.
- Sending calendar invitations for meetings and appointments
- Setting up email auto-replies and signatures
- Using one or multiple calendars
- How to attach files and insert illustrations within messages
- Customization features such as color-coding messages from different people, etc.

Zoom Video Conferencing is easy to use and is a reliable cloud platform for video and audio conferencing that works across mobile devices, desktop and laptop computers, as well as telephones. Zoom can be used to collaborate with up to 300 attendees during a meeting, separate attendees into individual break out rooms, take quick and useful polls and more.
